25 Portraits
(a condensed version of the 100 Heads Challenge!)
At the beginning of 2021, Katie-Mai embarked on this challenge as a way to explore and develop her skills. She has been very intentional about the subjects chosen for the challenge: with ethnic diversity being absolutely paramount.
Artist statement:"There's a lot of unnecessary hate in the world right now that's stemming, in part, from fear of our differences. I want my work to demonstrate that our differences is what makes us human, and that makes the differences beautiful and something we should embrace. When Bruce Lee was asked if he considered himself as Chinese or North American he answered: 'I think of myself as a human being, because under the sky we are but one family, it just so happens we look different.'"
All pieces were created using acrylic and charcoal and are one of three sizes: 8x8 inches, 8x10 inches, 12x12 inches on either stretched canvas or cradled wooden board.
